Behaviour Support Assistant (1:1) – Primary School | NW5 | September Start Location: NW5, North London Hours: Full-Time | Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 4:30pm Contract: Term Time Only Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Are you calm under pressure, resilient, and passionate about helping children thrive? A primary school in NW5 is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who can build strong relationships, provide consistent support, and help a child feel safe, understood and ready to learn. The pupil can become overwhelmed at times, which may occasionally lead to distressed behaviours, including low-level physical behaviour. The successful candidate will be confident in remaining calm, using de-escalation strategies, and providing a firm but fair approach that helps the pupil regulate their emotions and return to learning. The Role Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day. Build a trusting relationship that promotes confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing. Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques to support emotional regulation. Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and external professionals to deliver consistent support. Encourage engagement in learning, social interaction and daily routines. Record progress and contribute to behaviour and support plans where required. We're Looking For Someone Who Has experience supporting children with Autism or additional needs, either in a school or similar setting. Is calm, patient and resilient, even in challenging situations. Can provide clear boundaries with a firm, fair and nurturing approach. Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Works well as part of a team and is committed to inclusive education. Experience with behaviour support, Team Teach, MAPA, or other positive behaviour management training is beneficial but not essential. Why Join This School?
