Job Title: BSL Teaching Assistant – Deaf Provision (Primary)

Contract: Full-time / Part-time (Term Time)
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic BSL-trained Teaching Assistant to join our primary school Deaf Provision in Brent. This is a fantastic opportunity to support Deaf and hearing-impaired pupils in a nurturing, inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for Deaf pupils, using British Sign Language (BSL)
Support access to the curriculum and facilitate communication between pupils and staff
Work closely with teachers, the SENCo, and other professionals to implement individual learning plans
Assist with behaviour management and pastoral support, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment
Support pupils’ social, emotional, and language development
Essential Requirements
Proficient in British Sign Language (BSL)
Experience working with Deaf or hearing-impaired children in a school setting
Understanding of primary curriculum and SEN support strategies
Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
Previous experience in a school Deaf Provision
Knowledge of deaf culture and technology supporting Deaf learners
