Job Title: Teaching Assistant – Down Syndrome Support Location: SW17, London Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time (Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm) Salary: Paid to scale (dependent on experience and qualifications) Start Date: Monday 1st September About the Role: We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Down syndrome in our welcoming and inclusive primary school in SW17. This is a full-time role, working closely with our SEN team and classroom teachers to provide tailored support that nurtures academic, social, and emotional development. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Down syndrome, adapting learning activities to meet their individual needs. Assist the class teacher in delivering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Foster a safe, supportive space that promotes confidence and independence. Collaborate with SENCO, therapists, and other professionals to implement EHCP goals. Support with personal care if needed (training can be provided). Ideal Candidate: Experience working with children with Down syndrome or special educational needs (SEN). A nurturing, patient approach with a genuine passion for inclusive education. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to adapt learning strategies to suit individual learning styles. Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 TA, CACHE, or similar) are desirable but not essential. What We Offer: A supportive and friendly school community.
