Job Title: Early Years Teaching Assistant
Location: Cotham, Bristol
Start: ASAP

Contract: Full time, with the potential to become permanent after 12 weeks
Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic person who wants to make a real difference to young children?
We are looking for an Early Years Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to pupils in a welcoming Bristol primary school. You will be supporting children with SEMH, autism and learning disabilities, helping them feel safe, included and confident in their learning.
This role would suit someone with nursery or Early Years experience, particularly someone who understands the EYFS curriculum and enjoys learning through play, communication and positive relationships.
You may also be a great fit if you are a UWE Bristol or University of Bristol student, carer, support worker, youth worker or sports coach. Your personality, patience, resilience and ability to build trust are just as important as previous school experience.
About the learning environment
The school has a strong focus on inclusion, communication and helping every child make progress. Its Early Years curriculum follows the EYFS framework, with learning built around play, exploration, communication, physical development and developing independence.
The latest Ofsted monitoring visit in July 2026 recognised clear improvements. Inspectors found that Early Years now provides a secure foundation in reading, writing and maths, with a stronger focus on communication and language. Children were observed talking confidently about their learning through work and play.
The school is continuing its improvement journey, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to play a positive part in a developing and inclusive setting.
What we are looking for
• A warm, patient and positive personality
• A genuine interest in Early Years children
• Nursery or EYFS experience is highly valued
• Someone confident supporting children with additional needs
• Good communication and teamwork
• A calm and encouraging approach
