Job Title: Learning Mentor
Location: Plymouth
Job Type: Full Time, Term Time Only
Pay: £95–£100 per day (dependent on experience)

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Mentor to join an Alternative Provision in Plymouth from September. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), Autism (ASD), ADHD, and additional learning needs.
Working on a 1:1 basis, you will support students both in school and through community outreach, helping them engage in learning, build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and additional learning difficulties.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students to promote engagement and emotional wellbeing.
- Support students to access learning both in the classroom and within the local community.
- Deliver outreach sessions, accompanying students to educational, vocational, and wellbeing activities.
- Work alongside teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals to support each student's individual needs.
- Monitor progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to student support plans.
- Promote positive behaviour and help students develop confidence, resilience, and independence.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or additional educational needs.
- A patient, calm, resilient, and nurturing approach.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Access to your own car is essential, as the role involves community outreach and transporting students to educational activities and appointments.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience as a Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Behaviour - - - Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker, or within an Alternative Provision or SEN setting.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and behaviour support strategies.
Team Teach or other positive behaviour management training (desirable but not essential).
