Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
SEND Learning Support Assistant – Junior School – Barking & Dagenham From £100 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | September Start Axcis are working with a welcoming and inclusive junior school in Barking & Dagenham who are seeking a dedicated and caring SEND Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and wants to make a real difference within a supportive Key Stage 2 setting. The school is looking for someone who can provide calm, consistent and nurturing support to pupils who may need extra help with learning, communication, emotional regulation and confidence in the classroom. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and wider support staff to ensure pupils feel included, understood and able to access learning throughout the school day. About the Role As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils across Key Stage 2 with a range of additional needs. This may include autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, learning difficulties or social communication needs. You will: • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND • Help children access classroom learning through adapted tasks and resources • Support pupils with communication, focus, confidence and emotional regulation • Use visual supports, structured routines and positive reinforcement strategies • Encourage independence, positive behaviour and social interaction • Support transitions, playground time and wider school routines where required • Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to follow individual support plans and EHCP targets What We’re Looking For • Previous experience supporting children with SEND or additional needs • Experience with autism, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language needs would be beneficial • A calm, patient and nurturing approach • Strong communication and teamwork skills • Confidence building positive relationships with pupils • Good classroom awareness and willingness to use initiative • Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term role This is a brilliant opportunity for a SEND Learning Support Assistant who wants to join a supportive junior school and help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
