Role: Psychology Graduate – Mental Health Support Worker
Location: North Somerset
Hours: 8.30 – 3.30pm, Mon – Fri (term time only)
Pay: £89 per day
Contract: Temporary with the potential of permanent for the right candidate

About the schools
Our partner schools in North Somerset provide a nurturing, individualised, and alternative environment for young people with SEN to thrive. With a strong focus on trauma-informed practice and sensory-based learning, the schools are equipped with fantastic facilities including sensory rooms, practical workshop spaces and gardens that allow for a strong focus on outdoor learning.
Your role as a Mental Health Support Worker
No two days are the same in this varied and rewarding role, but you can expect to support with the following:
- Pupil engagement with the curriculum.
- Communication, using methods such as Makaton or PECS.
- Encouraging outdoor learning.
- Promoting social skills both in groups and one-to-one sessions.
- Running small group interventions, offering personalised support for academic, emotional and social development.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for individuals who:
- Hold a Psychology degree (or related field)
- Have at least 3 months’ experience working with young people or adults with SEND.
- Are enthusiastic, patient and empathetic.
- Ideally have a DBS on the Update Service.
Even if you don’t meet all of the criteria, we’d still love to hear from you as we welcome Mental Health Support Workers from a range of backgrounds.
