Job Title: Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant (ASD Provision) Location: London Borough of Barnet Contract Type: Full-Time | Term Time Only - ASAP About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant to join our specialist ASD Provision within a supportive and inclusive secondary school in the London Borough of Barnet. This is a full-time position supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated communication, sensory, and social needs. The successful candidate must have prior experience working with secondary-aged students with SEND and be confident in providing personal care where required. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with ASD Support students with EHCP targets, both academically and socially Deliver structured interventions under the direction of the SENCO and class teacher Implement behaviour support strategies and positive behaviour approaches Assist with personal care, including toileting and hygiene support, in a dignified and respectful manner Support students during transitions, breaktimes, and off-site activities Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents, and external professionals The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Proven experience supporting secondary students with ASD A strong understanding of autism, sensory processing needs, and communication strategies Experience working with EHCPs and structured interventions Confidence and willingness to carry out personal care duties A calm, patient, and resilient approach Strong teamwork and communication skills Relevant qualifications in SEND, childcare, or education (desirable) We Offer: A welcoming and supportive staff team Ongoing CPD and specialist SEND training Opportunities for career progression A well-resourced ASD provision A rewarding role making a real difference in students’ lives This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
