We are currently recruiting SEMH Mentors and SEND Teaching Assistants to support students aged 5–16 within Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and Alternative Provision settings across Greater Manchester.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, SEND, and behavioural challenges. The schools we work with are committed to staff development and provide ongoing training, mentoring and professional growth opportunities.

Candidates with interests or experience in sports, music, creative arts, gaming, mentoring or youth work are particularly encouraged to apply, as these interests can help build positive relationships and engagement with students.
As an SEMH Mentor, you will support students who may experience:
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC/ASD)
• ADHD
• Behavioural challenges
• Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
• Additional learning needs
You will work closely with teachers, pastoral teams and SENCOs to help students develop confidence, emotional regulation and positive learning behaviours.
Key Responsibilities
As a SEMH Mentor / SEND TA, you will:
• Act as a positive role model and mentor for students with SEMH and SEND needs
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for identified pupils
• Support students in overcoming social, emotional and academic barriers to learning
• Assist the class teacher in the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons
• Implement behaviour strategies and reasonable adjustments to help students succeed
• Promote emotional regulation, resilience and independence
• Provide guidance, encouragement and pastoral support to young people
• Build strong relationships to support engagement and positive behaviour
Ideal Candidate Profile
We would love to hear from you if you are:
• Passionate about supporting students with SEND and SEMH needs
• Interested in working as a Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Learning Support Assistant or SEND Teaching Assistant
• Energetic, patient and able to build positive relationships with young people
• Confident supporting students who may display challenging behaviour
• Motivated to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable learners
• A strong team player with a positive and proactive attitude
Experience working in schools, PRUs, youth work, coaching, care work, or alternative education is beneficial but not always essential.
