About the Role:
We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Social, Emotional and Mental Health Teacher to join a supportive team in Frome, Somerset. As a specialist educator, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality education to students with diverse needs, helping them achieve their full potential. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to secure a permanent role within the school.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver and assess engaging lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs.
- Develop individual education plans that cater to the specific requirements of each student.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students, helping to foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Work closely with other education professionals, such as teaching assistants and SENCOs, to ensure consistency and effectiveness in teaching strategies.
- Employ a range of behavior management techniques, maintaining discipline and supporting students in managing their emotions and behavior.
- Monitor and record student progress, adapting teaching approaches to meet their evolving needs.
- Engage with parents and guardians to communicate student progress and to promote a cohesive approach to the students’ education and wellbeing.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the wider school community.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience in working with SEMH students or in a similar SEND setting.
- Clear understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Resilient and adaptive, with a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of students with challenging behavior.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Enthusiastic about contributing to extracurricular activities and school events.
