Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
SEMH Teaching Assistant – Tameside (Primary & Secondary)
Location: Tameside, Greater Manchester
Start date: ASAP or January 2026
Contract type: Full-time / Long-term
Pay: £95–£110 per day (dependent on experience)
Are you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs? Axcis Education is seeking dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistants to work across primary and secondary schools in Tameside, supporting students who need that extra bit of care and understanding to thrive.
You’ll be joining friendly and inclusive settings that provide specialist support for students with SEMH, ADHD, Autism, and behavioural challenges. Working alongside class teachers and pastoral staff, you’ll play a vital role in helping students regulate emotions, develop confidence, and engage positively with learning.
Your responsibilities may include:
• Providing 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
• Supporting positive behaviour management and emotional regulation
• Helping deliver tailored learning plans under teacher guidance
• Encouraging positive social interaction and participation in school life
• Liaising with SENCOs, therapists, and parents to ensure consistent support
Requirements:
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or additional needs
• A resilient, empathetic, and patient approach
• The ability to set clear boundaries and provide consistent routines
• A genuine desire to support vulnerable learners
