Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Hillingdon (between Northolt and Southall) Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15am – 4:15pm Start Date: September 2026 (Trial days ASAP) Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term (Potential for a permanent position) About the Role Axcis Education is delighted to be working with an Ofsted Outstanding special primary school in Hillingdon, renowned for its nurturing ethos, exceptional leadership and high-quality support for pupils with additional needs. The school caters for approximately 100 pupils, all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), with primary needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD. The school is looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September 2026. Trial days are available before the summer holidays, providing an excellent opportunity to meet the team and experience the school environment before starting in September. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH, ASD and ADHD. Help create a calm, safe and engaging learning environment. Implement positive behaviour management and effective de-escalation strategies. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff. Build positive relationships with pupils to support their emotional wellbeing, independence and academic progress. The Ideal Candidate Experience supporting children with SEMH, ASD and/or ADHD. Confident managing behaviours that challenge using positive behaviour support strategies. Team Teach (or similar behaviour management training) is highly desirable. Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or is willing to obtain one). Reliable, proactive and committed to making a positive impact on young people's lives.
