Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Hounslow
Start Date: 1st December
Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
A caring and inclusive secondary school is looking to appoint a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with medical and complex learning needs. This full-time role starts in September and is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of SEN care and a calm, person-centred approach.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching and support staff to provide both educational and personal care support. Students may have physical disabilities, medical conditions, cognitive challenges, or a combination of needs requiring tailored, sensitive assistance throughout the school day.
Key responsibilities include:
• Delivering individualised support to students with EHCPs and complex needs
• Assisting with mobility, feeding, and personal care (including toileting or changing if required)
• Monitoring medical routines in collaboration with trained medical staff (e.g., PEG feeding, epilepsy care, etc.)
• Supporting learning in both academic and sensory-based lessons
• Promoting independence, dignity, and engagement
Desirable experience and skills:
• Experience supporting students with physical disabilities, medical care routines, or complex SEN
• Confidence with manual handling and use of mobility equipment (hoists, standing frames, etc.)
• Training or familiarity with healthcare plans, moving and handling, or intimate care procedures
• A calm, patient, and flexible approach to ever-changing needs
• Background in special education, care, or medical/SEN environments is highly advantageous
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service is essential, or willingness to obtain one prior to starting.
