Axcis Education is recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work within the complex needs provision of a welcoming primary school in Wigan. This full-time temporary role is ideal for a Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with SEND and additional needs.
Working as an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of complex needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them access learning while promoting their independence, communication and overall development.
This is an ongoing temporary position through Axcis Education to meet the school's staffing needs. While there is no guarantee of a permanent contract, there may be an opportunity for the role to become temporary-to-permanent for the right candidate.
The role includes:
- Supporting pupils with SEND and additional needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Working within the school's specialist complex needs provision.
- Supporting pupils with communication, emotional regulation, mobility and personal development.
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school staff to support pupil progress.
- Promoting a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
Applicants should have:
- At least 6 months' experience supporting children or young people with SEND and additional needs in a professional or voluntary capacity. Candidates with extensive personal experience supporting individuals with SEND are also encouraged to apply.
- Experience supporting children with a range of SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs.
- Confidence supporting children with complex learning needs, physical disabilities and mobility difficulties.
- A patient, caring and proactive approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Availability to work Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm during term time.
- The ability to travel to the school in the Wigan area.
- The right to work in the UK.
Please note: Overseas-trained candidates are welcome to apply. However, applicants must have a minimum of 3 months' experience working within a UK school or education setting.
