Pay: £92.63 per day

Axcis Education is recruiting for a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary SEND school in North Birmingham.
This rewarding role involves supporting students aged 11-16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and a range of additional needs, including ADHD, SEMH needs, attachment difficulties, and communication challenges. The school provides a structured and supportive environment, helping students develop academically, socially, and emotionally while preparing them for greater independence.
This opportunity would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker, or Care Worker who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Support students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and additional SEND needs within the classroom.
• Provide tailored 1:1 support and small-group interventions.
• Help students access the curriculum and achieve individual learning targets.
• Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation throughout the school day.
• Build strong, professional relationships that help students feel safe, supported, and engaged.
• Support students in developing communication, independence, and life skills.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and wider support staff to implement personalised learning strategies.
• Create a calm, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism, SEND, SEMH, ADHD, or behavioural needs.
• Experience within education, care, youth work, residential care, support work, or similar settings.
• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships and maintain clear professional boundaries.
• Confidence supporting students with varying communication and learning needs.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Full-time availability, Monday to Friday.
