A highly inclusive and supportive primary school in Stretford is looking for an exceptional 1:1 SEND Support Assistant to work with a lovely child in Year 3 who has a diagnosis of Autism (ASD). This is a role where you can build a meaningful relationship and watch your hard work turn into real progress every single day. Your Main Responsibilities: • Providing dedicated 1:1 academic, behavioural, and emotional support to a Year 3 pupil. • Implementing specific targets outlined in the pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). • Utilizing visual timetables, Now-and-Next boards, and social stories to structure the day. • Managing sensory breaks and helping the pupil navigate emotional regulation. • Working closely with the school SENDCo and external speech and language therapists. What We Are Looking For: • Significant, verifiable experience supporting children with Autism (ASD) or complex communication needs. • Knowledge of specific SEND strategies (e.g., PECS, Makaton, or sensory integration) is highly desirable. • A calm, patient demeanour with the ability to remain grounded under pressure. • A commitment to fostering independence while providing a safe safety net for learning.
