An Outstanding Ofsted-rating primary school in Sutton is looking for a friendly and calm SEND Teacher to join their committed team, working with pupils aged from 4-11. The school benefits from a welcoming community environment and excellent facilities. The role involves teaching a small class of pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD and PMLD, who require support with communication, regulation, and personal care.
Duties of the role include:
• Planning and delivering engaging lessons to a small class of pupils with ASD, ADHD and PMLD.
• Assisting pupils with personal care, behaviour regulation and communication.
• Working with support staff, therapists and parents to tailor lessons to individual Education, Health and Care plans.
• Creating an inclusive and structured learning environment for all pupils
• Work closely with school staff to maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment
The ideal candidate will have:
• Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) or extensive UK experience within a similar role
• A strong understanding of ASD and PMLD, including how students may need support within a classroom setting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A patient, compassionate and flexible approach to teaching
• Strong classroom management.
