Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

Salary: Starting from £83.50 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30-3:30pm.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join us working in a primary school in Skelmersdale. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with autism and learning disabilities, supporting their educational development and personal well-being.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with children who have autism and learning disabilities, providing tailored support both in the classroom and during personal care routines. Your role will be to help create an inclusive learning environment, support emotional well-being, and assist with the physical and personal care needs of the children as required.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support children with autism and learning disabilities in the classroom, helping them engage with learning activities and achieve their full potential.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with additional needs, helping them develop their academic and social skills.
• Assist with personal care tasks, including toileting, feeding, and mobility support, as required.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SENDCo to plan and implement individual learning plans and strategies.
• Support children during lunchtime and breaks, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Help children develop social skills and build positive relationships with peers and adults.
• Maintain a calm, patient, and nurturing approach to meet the varied needs of the children.
• Record and report on children's progress, behaviour, and any concerns to the class teacher or SENDCo.
The Ideal Candidate:
• Have an enhanced DBS on the update service
• Previous experience working with children with SEND, particularly autism and learning disabilities, is desirable but not essential.
• A compassionate, patient, and understanding approach to working with children.
• Ability to assist with personal care needs in a dignified and respectful manner.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A proactive attitude, with a focus on the individual needs of each child.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
