Axcis are looking to recruit an experienced SEND teaching assistant for a special school in Tower Hamlets. The school has beautiful grounds and encourages the children to take part in growing fruits and vegetables during the summer months. With a fantastic location, the school is easily accessible via public transport with parking on site. We have received great feedback from teaching assistants we have placed before, reflected by the “good” Ofsted rating.
In this role, you will be:
• Supporting students with a range of SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties) on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, ensuring their individual learning needs are met.
• Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering differentiated lessons and activities tailored to pupils' specific learning profiles.
• Promoting inclusion by encouraging positive social interaction and emotional regulation, using appropriate behaviour management strategies.
• Helping pupils with personal care tasks where required, maintaining dignity and following safeguarding and hygiene protocols.
• Monitoring and record pupil progress, behaviours, and interventions to support with EHCP targets and contribute to regular reviews.
What we are looking for:
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech & language difficulties, SEMH).
• Experience working in an educational setting such as a mainstream school, SEN school, or alternative provision.
• Familiarity with supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and/or in small group interventions.
• (Optional) Experience with personal care, de-escalation, or using communication tools like PECS or Makaton.
