Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Position: SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Twickenham, London Type: Full-time (Monday?–?Friday) Hours: 08:00?–?15:30 Salary: Paid to scale Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in a dynamic, inclusive classroom setting. Working closely with the classroom teacher, you will help deliver differentiated instruction, promote independence, and foster a positive learning environment for all students. Key Responsibilities • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons tailored to individual SEND profiles. • Provide one-to-one and small-group support, reinforcing concepts and encouraging participation. • Implement behaviour management strategies and monitor student progress against IEP targets. • Prepare and adapt teaching resources, assist with assistive technology, and maintain a safe, organised learning space. • Record observations and communicate effectively with teachers, specialists, parents, and external agencies. • Contribute to the development and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Essential Qualifications & Experience • Level 2 or 3 Diploma/Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent). • Experience working with children with SEND in a school setting. • Good knowledge of SEND legislation, inclusive practices, and safeguarding procedures. • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to build rapport with diverse learners. • Proficiency in using digital learning tools and assistive technology. Desirable • First Aid certification. • Training in specific SEND areas (e.g., autism, dyslexia, sensory impairment).
