Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
SEND Teaching Assistant – Specialist School – Chorley
£95 per day | September start | Long-term opportunity | Full-time and part-time opportunities available
Axcis Education is currently recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to work in a specialist school in Chorley, supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, complex needs and behaviours that challenge.
The school supports children from primary through to secondary age and is looking to build a reliable team of Axcis Education staff who can provide consistent, long-term support from September.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant or someone with a strong interest in working with children and young people with additional needs. The role would suit candidates who are patient, resilient, proactive and passionate about supporting pupils with complex needs.
The role includes:
• Long-term support opportunities starting from September
• Full-time and part-time opportunities available
• Working hours typically between 8:30am and 4:00pm
• Supporting pupils from primary through to secondary age
• Working with children and young people with a range of SEND and complex needs
• Supporting pupils with behaviours that challenge
• Providing support within the classroom, in small groups and on a 1:1 basis
• Supporting pupils with their learning, communication, emotional development and day-to-day needs
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, support staff and the wider SEND team
• Promoting positive behaviour and helping to create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment
• Supporting pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive relationships
• Providing consistent support to pupils to help promote positive educational and personal outcomes
To be considered for this SEND Teaching Assistant role, you will need:
• A minimum of 6 months' experience working with SEND is desirable
• Overseas candidates must have at least 3 months' experience working with SEND in the UK
• Previous experience working in a specialist school, SEND setting or supporting pupils with complex needs is highly desirable
• Experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour is beneficial
• Experience working with either primary or secondary-aged pupils will be considered
• A genuine passion for working with children and young people with SEND and complex needs
• A patient, proactive, resilient and positive approach
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• The ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting pupils with additional needs
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one. Axcis Education can support you through the DBS application process
• The ability to reliably commute to Chorley and the surrounding areas
