SEND Teaching Assistant Are you a proactive, caring, and enthusiastic individual looking for a rewarding opportunity where you can make a real difference to the lives of pupils with Special Educational Needs? We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team, working with pupils who have additional needs including Autism (ASD), non-verbal communication needs, and sensory needs. This role is ideal for someone with SEND experience who is confident using their initiative, has a positive can-do attitude, and is passionate about helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and engagement in learning. The Role As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils across the classroom, helping them access learning and thrive within a nurturing and inclusive environment. You will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to understand individual pupil needs, build meaningful relationships, and provide consistent support throughout the school day. Key Responsibilities • Support pupils with ASD, non-verbal communication needs, sensory needs, and other additional needs. • Provide 1:1 and small group support within the classroom. • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support communication, confidence, and independence. • Use initiative to identify when pupils need additional support and adapt your approach accordingly. • Support sensory regulation, emotional wellbeing, and positive engagement. • Assist teachers with personalised learning activities and classroom routines. • Promote independence, social development, and positive behaviour. • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the wider SEND team. The Ideal Candidate • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly ASD, non-verbal, or sensory needs. • A proactive approach with the confidence to use initiative. • A positive, flexible, and can-do attitude. • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to connect with pupils. • Patient, resilient, and adaptable when supporting individual needs. • A reliable team player who is committed to making a difference. • Passionate about helping young people reach their full potential. Working Hours • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Monday to Thursday: 8:30am – 4:00pm. • Friday: 8:30am – 3:30pm.
