Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Surbiton, Surrey Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 08:00?–?15:30 Salary: Paid to scale Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team in Surbiton. You will work alongside qualified teachers to deliver high-quality, personalised learning experiences for pupils with a range of additional needs, fostering independence, confidence and academic progress. Key Responsibilities • Provide one-to-one and small-group support in line with individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). • Assist teachers in preparing and adapting resources, classroom materials and sensory equipment. • Implement behaviour-management strategies, promoting a safe and inclusive environment. • Monitor pupil progress, record observations and communicate updates to the class teacher and senior staff. • Facilitate social and life-skills activities, encouraging participation in school life. • Support the transition of pupils between classes, therapies and external agencies. Essential Qualifications & Experience • Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent). • Experience working with children who have SEND, preferably in a mainstream or specialist setting. • Understanding of safeguarding, data protection and EHCP implementation. • Strong communication, patience and organisational skills.
