Job Title: Sport Coach
Location: Gloucester Position Type: Full Time (with Temp to Perm Options Available) Axcis are working very closely with a secondary aged Special School located just outside of Gloucester, whose mission is to create a supportive and dynamic environment where pupils with Social and emotional mental health difficulties and Autism can thrive and achieve their full potential. Their focus is delivering individualised educational experiences and actively incorporating sport and physical education into the curriculum to spark student interest and engagement. They are currently seeking talented individuals with a passion for sports, physical education, and youth development to join their team as Teaching Assistants, Sports Coaches, or Support Workers. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong desire to work with young people, particularly those who are facing barriers to education due to behavioural challenges. This role involves providing small group support and positively contributing to our students’ learning and personal growth. This role is to start asap and continue until the end of the academic year in the first instance working the hours of Monday to Friday 08.30- 4.00. As a Sport Coach, you will play an integral role in the development of the students' sporting abilities and their overall well-being. Your responsibilities will extend from coaching to mentoring, with an emphasis on promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal development alongside their other studies. **Key Responsibilities:** - Plan, organize, and deliver coaching sessions for various sports specifically football and rugby. - Provide guidance and instruction to students across all skill levels, adjusting for age and ability as necessary. - Monitor and evaluate the performance of students, providing feedback and developing strategies for improvement. - Understand and implement school policies and procedures regarding student safety and conduct. - Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivational environment for all students. - Work collaboratively with other staff to extend student participation in sports. - Manage sports equipment and ensure facilities are well-maintained and safe for use. - Address challenging behaviour in a constructive manner, demonstrating patience and resilience. Qualifications and Skills: - Experience in Sports Coaching, Physical Education, or a related field. - Extensive experience in coaching and/or playing a variety of sports. - Strong organizational and communication skills, with an ability to interact positively with students, parents, and staff. - Proactive and dynamic approach to coaching and problem-solving. - Ability to manage challenging behaviour and maintain discipline within the sport setting. - A valid coaching certification from a recognized sports body is preferred. - Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake this check).
