Job Title: Sport Teaching Assistant
Sports & Behaviour SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary – Tower Hamlets
£105–£120 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | September Start
Axcis Education is looking for an energetic Sports & Behaviour SEND Teaching Assistant to support secondary-aged students with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and behavioural needs in Tower Hamlets.
This week's East London market shows a particularly interesting trend towards SEND schools recruiting candidates with backgrounds in sports coaching, PE, youth work and mentoring, using physical activity and positive relationships to improve engagement and regulation.
You don't necessarily need years of classroom experience. We're interested in people who understand young people, have strong behaviour instincts and can channel a student's energy in a positive direction.
About the Role
• Supporting students with Autism, ADHD and SEMH
• Using sport and physical activity to encourage engagement
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Helping pupils manage frustration and emotional regulation
• Supporting students back into classroom learning
• Building confidence, communication and social skills
• Working alongside SEND teachers and behaviour teams
About You
• Background in sports coaching, PE, mentoring, youth work or SEND
• Confident working with teenagers
• Strong relationship-building skills
• Comfortable managing challenging behaviour
• Positive, energetic and resilient personality
• SEND school experience desirable but not essential
