Job Title: Supply Teaching Assistant (SEND)
Location: Woodley
Pay: £92.63 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (on a flexible, supply basis)
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated SEND Teaching Assistant to support a well-established specialist school in Woodley on a supply basis. This role offers flexibility while providing the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and young people with additional needs in a supportive and structured environment.
As a supply SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work with pupils aged 4 to 17 who have a range of moderate to severe learning disabilities. You will play an important role in supporting students both academically and personally, helping them to engage with learning and develop essential life skills. The position requires adaptability, as you may be working across different classes, age groups and needs depending on the school’s requirements on any given day.
You will collaborate with teaching staff to provide tailored support, assisting with learning activities, behaviour management and emotional regulation. Building strong, consistent relationships with pupils is key, as is encouraging their participation, independence and confidence. The role may also involve supporting with personal care, so a willingness to assist with this is essential.
We welcome applicants with transferable experience from SEND or specialist school settings, care or residential support roles, social work, youth work or other positions involving support for vulnerable individuals. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build rapport with pupils and staff, alongside the confidence to work with children and young people with a wide range of additional needs.
You will need to be flexible, patient and resilient, with a proactive mindset and the ability to adapt to new environments. A calm and consistent presence, combined with the ability to set clear expectations and act as a positive role model, is essential in this role.
