A special school in Newport is currently on the lookout for dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join their team in creating an empowering and nurturing environment for our pupils. Key Responsibilities:
- Offer one-to-one support and care to pupils with a variety of complex needs and physical difficulties.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programs (IEPs) and Personal Care Plans.
- Utilize manual handling techniques when necessary and appropriate to the needs of the children.
- Engage in activities that promote the pupils' cognitive, emotional, and social development.
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Respond dynamically to the changing needs of each pupil, providing flexibility and adaptability in your support approach.
- Contribute to the creation of a positive and stimulating classroom atmosphere.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience working with children or individuals with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) is highly desirable.
- Training in manual handling and an understanding of the specific needs associated with physical disabilities is an advantage.
- A patient, empathetic, and engaging manner, coupled with a strong commitment to providing inclusive support.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
