SEND Teaching Assistant – Autism & Communication Needs – Primary – Havering
£95–£110 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | Immediate Start
Axcis are working with a well-established and inclusive primary school in Havering that is looking to appoint a confident and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant.
The school has a strong reputation for its SEND provision, with a proactive SENCO and a team that work closely together to ensure pupils receive consistent, high-quality support. The environment is structured, calm and supportive, making it an excellent setting for both pupils and staff.
About the Role
You will be supporting pupils with autism and communication needs within the classroom, working both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
This role requires someone who understands how to create structure, build trust and adapt quickly to pupils’ needs.
You will:
• Support pupils using visual timetables and structured routines
• Help develop communication and social interaction
• Adapt classroom tasks to suit individual learning needs
• Support emotional regulation and engagement
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
What We’re Looking For
• Experience supporting pupils with autism
• Understanding of communication strategies (PECS, visuals, Makaton desirable)
• Calm, patient and consistent approach
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
