Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Autism
Axcis Education are pleased to be working with a specialist SEND school in Southport, who are searching for several teaching assistants to join their team in January 2024. There are full time and part time positions available. You would be working Monday to Friday, 8.45am – 3.30pm. There is potential for a permanent position for the right applicant.
The school caters for primary and secondary children across the autism spectrum. There are other needs in the school, including ADHD, learning difficulties and some challenging behaviour. Many of the pupils will have sensory, communication or social needs. Personal care will be required as part of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist teachers in delivering personalised education plans.
• Support students with autism in their academic, social, and emotional development.
• Implement strategies to manage and encourage positive behaviour.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support as needed.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to support each student's needs.
Requirements:
• Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational or care setting.
• Understanding of autism and a passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
Pay starts from £12.83 per hour. There is a car park on site for drivers, as well as good public transport links within walking distance of the school.
