Job Advertisement: Teaching Assistant (SEND Primary - PMLD) Position: Teaching Assistant Specialization: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) - Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Start Date: September 2024 Location: Skelmersdale Axcis are seeking a compassionate, patient, and highly motivated Teaching Assistant to join a school in Skelmersdale. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to provide individualised support to children with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). This is a full-time, long-term position starting in September 2024. Key Responsibilities • Support Learning: Assist in the delivery of tailored educational programs, adapting resources to meet the needs of students with PMLD. • Personal Care: Provide personal care support, including feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance. • Communication: Utilise a range of communication methods, including Makaton, PECS, and AAC devices, to support students' expressive and receptive communication. • Behavioral Support: Implement individualised behaviour support plans, using positive behaviour management techniques. • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure a holistic approach to each child's development. • Classroom Environment: Assist in creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment that supports the well-being and learning of all students.
