About the Role
Axcis Education is working in partnership with a dedicated Primary Special Needs School in Hillingdon to recruit a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term position starting in January 2026.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex needs, providing 1:1 support within the classroom and assisting pupils to access learning in a structured and nurturing environment. The role may also involve personal care.
You will work closely with teachers and a multidisciplinary team to deliver personalised learning, manage challenging behaviour, and promote inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
-Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism and complex needs
-Support pupils within a specialist classroom setting
-Use communication strategies such as PECS and Makaton to support learning
-Support with personal care, where required
Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
-Promote a structured, engaging, and supportive learning environment
-Record and report on pupil progress
-Contribute to planning, review, and progress meetings
Requirements
-Previous experience supporting children with Autism / SEND (EYFS experience also considered)
-Confidence using PECS and familiarity with Makaton
-Experience managing challenging behaviour
-Willingness to support with personal care
-Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
-Ability to commit to full-time hours
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
