Full-Time SEND Teaching Assistant – ASC, Complex Needs & Speech and Language
Location: Poole, Dorset
Start Date: April 2026
Hours: 08:30 – 15:30, Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), complex learning needs, and speech and language difficulties? A highly regarded specialist SEND school in Poole is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team from April 2026.
This well-established SEND school supports pupils aged 4–19 with ASC, complex learning difficulties, speech and language needs, communication challenges, and associated additional needs. The school is recognised for its structured, nurturing environment, specialist interventions, and strong focus on communication development.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced SEND team where personalised learning, consistency, and positive relationships are at the heart of the provision.
About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASC and complex needs
Support pupils with speech and language difficulties, using structured communication strategies
Assist with personalised learning programmes and EHCP targets
Promote communication, engagement, and emotional regulation
Support sensory needs and structured daily routines
Work alongside teachers, therapists, and speech and language professionals
Help create a calm, predictable, and supportive learning environment
This role requires patience, consistency, and confidence supporting pupils with additional communication needs.

Experience supporting pupils with ASC, complex learning needs, and speech and language difficulties
Understanding of communication strategies (e.g. visual supports, structured routines)
Calm, resilient, and nurturing approach
Confidence supporting behaviour positively and consistently
