Hours: Full-time Monday to Friday 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £14.25 – £14.50 per hour
Axcis Education is recruiting a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Salisbury on a full-time long-term basis. This Teaching Assistant role is an excellent opportunity to support pupils with social emotional and mental health needs in a structured supportive and nurturing learning environment.
The role involves working closely with pupils who may need support with emotional regulation and engagement in learning helping them to access education build trust and develop positive coping strategies within the school environment.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Helping learners access the curriculum and remain engaged in lessons
• Using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
• Supporting pupils with emotional regulation confidence and resilience
• Building strong trusting relationships with pupils and staff
• Assisting teachers in delivering structured learning activities
• Contributing to a safe consistent and supportive classroom environment
• Monitoring pupil progress and supporting interventions where required
The ideal candidate will:
• Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (preferred)
• Be calm patient and confident managing challenging behaviour
• Be resilient and committed to supporting vulnerable learners
• Be able to build strong relationships with pupils who may struggle to engage
• Work well as part of a team in a specialist school environment
• Be proactive and adaptable in their approach
