Job Title: Teaching Assistant
PMLD / Personal Care Teaching Assistant
Secondary School – Harrow
Full-Time | September Start
A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Harrow is seeking a compassionate and dedicated PMLD / Personal Care Teaching Assistant to join their specialist support team from September on a full-time basis.
This rewarding role involves supporting students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs, helping them access learning, develop independence, and thrive within a safe and nurturing environment.
The Role
You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to provide tailored support for students across the school day. Duties will include:
Supporting students with PMLD and additional complex needs
Assisting with personal care, including toileting and feeding where required
Helping students engage in lessons and sensory-based learning activities
Encouraging communication, social interaction, and independence
Supporting behaviour and emotional regulation in a positive manner
Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
Ensuring students’ safety, dignity, and wellbeing at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for someone who is:
Patient, caring, and resilient
Passionate about supporting children with special educational needs
Comfortable providing personal care support
Experienced working with SEN, PMLD, ASD, healthcare, or complex needs (preferred but not essential)
A strong team player with excellent communication skills
Able to build positive relationships with students and staff
Candidates with a background as a Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, Care Worker, Residential Support Worker, or Nursing Assistant are strongly encouraged to apply. This role would be ideal for someone looking to transition from healthcare or care settings into education.
