Job Title: Teaching Assistant
1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Full-Time | Term Time Only | September Start
A specialist school is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join its supportive team from September. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who have a range of complex additional needs, supporting them to achieve their full potential in a structured, nurturing and highly inclusive environment.
The successful candidate will provide tailored support to an individual pupil both in and outside the classroom, helping to promote learning, independence, communication and emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with special educational needs
Assist with the delivery of personalised learning activities and interventions
Support communication, emotional regulation and social development
Implement behaviour support strategies and care plans where required
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff
Encourage independence and positive engagement throughout the school day
Monitor progress and contribute to observations and reporting
Support the pupil during lessons, transitions, breaktimes and enrichment activities
Help maintain a calm, safe and supportive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, ideally within a specialist or SEN setting
Knowledge of autism, ADHD, speech and language needs or complex learning difficulties
A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
A proactive and flexible attitude towards supporting individual needs
A genuine passion for inclusive education and pupil development
