Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Location: Dorking, Surrey Hours: 08:00 – 15:30, Monday-Friday Salary: Paid to scale Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support classroom staff at a vibrant primary/secondary school in Dorking. The successful candidate will enhance the learning environment by providing targeted assistance to pupils, contributing to lesson preparation, and ensuring a safe, inclusive setting. Key Responsibilities - Support the class teacher in delivering the curriculum and managing daily routines. - Provide one-to-one or small-group reinforcement for pupils with additional needs or who require extra challenge. - Prepare and organise teaching resources, equipment, and learning materials. - Supervise pupils during breaks, assemblies, trips, and other non-instructional periods. - Monitor and record student progress, reporting observations to the teacher. - Assist with behaviour management, applying school policies consistently and positively. - Contribute to the development of differentiated activities and assessments. - Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and parent-teacher communications as required. Qualifications & Experience - Minimum GCSEs (including English and Mathematics) or equivalent. - Experience working with children in an educational setting (school, college, or youth club). - Knowledge of safeguarding and child-protection procedures. - Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to a dynamic classroom environment.
