Job Title: Teaching Assistant
SEND Teaching Assistant – SEMH & Behaviour Support – Secondary School – Barking & Dagenham From £100 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | Immediate / September Start Axcis are supporting a well-led secondary school in Barking & Dagenham who are seeking a confident and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH, ADHD and behaviour-related needs. The school has a strong pastoral structure, clear behaviour systems and a leadership team who understand the importance of consistency and positive relationships. This role would suit someone who is calm under pressure, confident setting boundaries and passionate about helping young people re-engage with education. The school is accessible by public transport and also has parking available for staff. About the Role You will be supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4 who may need additional help with emotional regulation, focus, confidence and behaviour. You will: • Support pupils with SEMH, ADHD and challenging behaviour in class and during interventions • Use de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour approaches • Build strong, trusting relationships with students who may be reluctant to engage • Support transitions, routines and unstructured parts of the school day • Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the SENCO • Encourage resilience, independence and positive learning habits What We’re Looking For • Experience supporting SEMH, ADHD or challenging behaviour • School, youth work, mentoring or sports coaching backgrounds considered • Calm, consistent and confident communication style • Ability to build rapport quickly while maintaining clear boundaries • Resilience, patience and a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable young people • Full-time availability This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants a meaningful role where relationship-building is at the heart of the work.
