Job Title: Teaching Assistant
SEND Teaching Assistant – Autism & Speech Delay – Primary School – Tower Hamlets From £100 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | September Start Axcis are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Tower Hamlets who are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with autism, speech and language delay and communication needs. The school has a strong reputation for inclusion, with a proactive SENCO and a supportive team who work closely with families and external professionals. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who understands the importance of patience, structure and communication when supporting children with additional needs. The school is well connected by public transport, with easy access via Tube, DLR, Overground and local bus routes. About the Role You will be supporting pupils across the primary phase, both in the classroom and through targeted support. The role will involve helping children access learning, build communication skills and develop confidence in a structured environment. You will: • Support pupils with autism, speech and language needs and communication difficulties • Work 1:1 and in small groups to support learning and engagement • Use visual supports, structured routines and communication strategies • Assist with differentiated classroom activities and interventions • Support emotional regulation, transitions and social interaction • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team What We’re Looking For • Previous experience supporting children with SEND, autism or communication needs • A calm, patient and nurturing approach • Confidence using visuals, PECS or Makaton would be beneficial • Strong communication and teamwork skills • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils quickly • Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term role This is a brilliant opportunity to join a supportive Tower Hamlets primary school where SEND provision is taken seriously and staff are valued.
