Axcis Education is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Shaftesbury. This full-time Teaching Assistant role offers the opportunity to support primary-aged pupils with their educational journey, helping them to achieve their academic potential while promoting their emotional wellbeing, confidence and positive behaviour.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including SEND and SEMH. The school is committed to creating an inclusive environment where every child feels valued, encouraged and equipped to succeed through high-quality teaching, nurturing relationships and personalised support.

Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant:
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support for primary-aged pupils across the school
• Supporting children with SEND, SEMH and additional learning needs to access the curriculum successfully
• Assisting with literacy, numeracy and classroom activities to promote academic progress
• Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation and resilience throughout the school day
• Supporting pupils' social, emotional and communication development both in and out of the classroom
• Working closely with teachers and the wider school team to deliver tailored learning and behaviour strategies
• Building positive relationships with pupils, helping them feel safe, confident and motivated to learn
• Helping to create an inclusive, engaging and nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will:
• Be caring, patient and adaptable, with a genuine passion for supporting primary-aged children
• Have professional experience working in education, childcare or a school setting as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar role, or have personal experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH or additional needs
• Applicants with experience in related sectors such as nursing, care, youth work, residential care, family support or other people-focused professions are also encouraged to apply
• Be confident supporting pupils with a range of academic, emotional and behavioural needs using a calm and positive approach
• Have a strong commitment to inclusive education and helping every child achieve their full potential
• Work effectively as part of a collaborative school team while building positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
