As a Teaching Assistant in Andover, you will work closely with teachers and other members of the support team to provide consistent, personalised support throughout the school day. You will help pupils overcome barriers to learning, manage challenges and develop the skills they need to become more confident and independent. Key Responsibilities: • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs throughout the school day • Working closely with teachers to help children access the curriculum • Providing individual and small-group learning support • Building positive, trusting and consistent relationships with pupils • Helping children develop confidence, resilience and independence • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour • Encouraging engagement with classroom activities and wider school life • Adapting support to reflect individual learning needs and abilities • Helping maintain a calm, nurturing and structured learning environment • Supporting pupils with social communication and relationship-building skills • Taking part in enrichment activities and wider educational experiences where required • Celebrating pupils' achievements and encouraging them to recognise their own progress • Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and other professionals The Successful Teaching Assistant Will Have: • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND or additional needs • A patient, compassionate and understanding approach • The ability to develop positive relationships with children who may have experienced barriers to learning • Confidence supporting emotional and behavioural needs • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • The resilience to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations • A genuine interest in helping children develop academically, socially and emotionally • The ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit education team Personal experience can be considered alongside professional experience, so candidates who have supported children or young people outside of a formal school setting are also encouraged to apply.
