The Role You will provide dedicated 1:1 support for a bright and engaging Year 4 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), who can present with some challenging behaviour. Your role will focus on helping the pupil stay engaged with learning, manage daily routines and transitions, develop positive relationships, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom. Using a calm, patient, and consistent approach, you will provide clear guidance and support to help the pupil manage their behaviour, meet classroom expectations, and develop greater independence and emotional wellbeing. Key Responsibilities Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with ADHD and ASD. Support the pupil to access learning and remain focused and engaged in classroom activities. Help the pupil manage their timetable, belongings, schoolwork, and daily routines. Support smooth transitions throughout the school day. Encourage positive behaviour through calm, consistent guidance and clear boundaries. Support the pupil with emotional regulation and managing challenging behaviour appropriately. Identify potential triggers and use proactive strategies to help prevent escalation. Promote positive friendships, communication, and social interaction. Support the development of independence and confidence. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school team to ensure a consistent approach. Help create a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. About You The ideal candidate will have: Experience supporting primary-aged pupils with ADHD and/or ASD. Experience supporting children who display challenging behaviour or emotional dysregulation. A patient, calm, consistent, and nurturing approach. Confidence in managing challenging situations while remaining composed and professional. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Experience supporting organisation, attention, emotional regulation, and social development. Confidence working independently while collaborating closely with school staff. A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential). Previous experience in a primary school or SEND support role (highly desirable).
