About the Role
Axcis Education is working in partnership with a highly regarded and inclusive SEND Primary & Secondary School in Brent, located just a short walk from Kensal Rise and Brondesbury Park stations.
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant who is available to start in October 2026 ASAP.
This is an excellent opportunity to join the school initially on a flexible day-to-day cover basis, allowing you to trial the school environment while gaining valuable experience. For the right candidate, there is strong potential for the role to develop into a full-time, long-term and permanent position.
The school is well known for its warm and collaborative culture, excellent leadership, and purpose-built SEN facilities, supporting pupils with a wide range of complex needs.
The school also has a linked primary provision nearby, creating a strong and supportive SEND education community across both settings.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with Autism and complex SEND, in line with their EHCPs.
Support learning interventions alongside teachers and the wider SEN team.
Use alternative communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, or similar communication systems.
Provide personal care support where required, always maintaining a respectful and professional approach.
Support pupils with their social, emotional, communication and life skills development.
Help create a nurturing, inclusive and positive learning environment.
Work flexibly across the SEND secondary setting and nearby primary provision where required.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Have experience supporting children or young people with Autism and/or complex SEND.
Be confident using alternative communication methods such as PECS or Makaton.
Be comfortable supporting personal care needs where required.
Be adaptable and confident working across SEND primary and secondary settings.
Be a strong team player with excellent communication skills.
Hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
Be open to flexible day-to-day work with the potential to transition into a long-term permanent role.
Be available to start in October 2026 ASAP.
