Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Full-Time Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEND School
Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity in a specialist SEND setting?
We are recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a well-established specialist school in Penzance, supporting children and young people with a range of moderate to complex learning needs.
The school provides a highly personalised approach to education, with pupils supported according to their individual needs, abilities and starting points. There is a strong focus on helping young people build confidence, communication, independence and the skills they need for life beyond school.
The Role
Working as part of a class team, you will provide practical and emotional support to pupils throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting pupils with their learning and development
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support
• Helping pupils develop independence and confidence
• Supporting communication and social development
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
• Helping pupils access a varied and personalised curriculum
• Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
• Working closely with teachers and other members of the wider support team
The school has a strong team of Teaching Assistants and works alongside a range of specialist professionals, providing a collaborative environment for both pupils and staff.

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is essential. Experience supporting pupils with complex learning needs, communication difficulties or additional needs would be particularly beneficial.
