Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School – Havering
From £95 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | Start After May Half Term
Axcis are working with a well-established secondary academy in Havering who are seeking a committed and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join their inclusion team after May half term. The school supports pupils across KS3 and KS4 and has a strong focus on helping students access learning, build confidence and feel fully included within the wider school community.
The academy has a broad and creative curriculum, with a strong identity around performing arts, personal development and high expectations. It is a setting that values structure, consistency and positive relationships, making it a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to make a meaningful impact in a secondary school environment.
This is a full-time, long-term role, ideal for someone who is confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs and who can work well as part of a busy school team.
About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support to access lessons and remain engaged in learning. This may include pupils with autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, moderate learning needs or social, emotional and mental health needs.
You will:
• Support pupils across KS3 and KS4 within mainstream lessons and small-group interventions
• Help students break down tasks, stay focused and access the curriculum confidently
• Support pupils with additional needs including autism, ADHD, MLD and SEMH
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence
• Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and pastoral team
• Encourage confidence, resilience and positive relationships with peers and staff
• Support students during transitions, routines and structured learning activities
What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience working with young people in a school, youth work, mentoring or SEND setting
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, autism, ADHD or behaviour needs would be highly desirable
• A calm, patient and consistent approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to use initiative and adapt support depending on pupil needs
• Confidence working in a busy secondary school environment
• Full-time availability from after May half term and commitment to a long-term role
