Are you a compassionate, proactive and skilled SEND professional looking for your next rewarding role? An all-through special school in Sutton is seeking a MAPA-trained practitioner to join their team, supporting pupils aged 7–16 with a range of needs including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
About the Role:
This position involves providing dedicated support to a male student who responds particularly well to calm, nurturing and consistent interaction. You will help him regulate, engage with learning, and feel secure throughout the day.
You’ll play a key part in supporting his academic, social, and emotional development across the all-through school, following the school’s therapeutic, child-centred approach.

The school follows a therapeutic, relational approach. Staff are expected to:
• Avoid shouting – communication must remain calm, respectful, and never derogatory.
• Use soft communication – tone is crucial; staff must maintain a gentle and composed manner.
• Set clear boundaries – expectations must be consistent and fair.
• Use positive reinforcement – celebrate positive behaviour rather than focusing on negatives.
• Stay actively engaged – take initiative by:
Moving around the classroom
Interacting with students and colleagues
Building relationships and supporting learning throughout the day
This approach ensures a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where students can thrive.
What We’re Looking For
MAPA training (essential)
Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
Confidence working with pupils with MLD, ASD, and EBD
A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
