Pay: £92.00-£97.00 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm

Axcis Education is seeking an enthusiastic and committed SEN Learning Support Assistant to work within a well-respected secondary school in Dorchester. This full-time position offers the opportunity to support students with additional learning needs, helping them develop confidence, resilience and the skills they need to achieve both academically and personally.
Whether you already have experience in a school or have worked in care, youth work or another support role, this could be an excellent opportunity to build a rewarding career in SEND education.
In this role you will:
• Provide tailored support to students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
• Encourage students with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs to engage positively in lessons
• Adapt activities to meet individual learning requirements
• Support students with organisation, communication and emotional regulation
• Encourage positive behaviour and promote independence
• Work closely with teachers and the school's SEND team to implement individual support plans
• Build positive relationships that help students feel secure and motivated
• Support students during lessons, breaktimes and intervention sessions where appropriate
• Help create an inclusive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed
We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience working with young people in education, care, youth work or a similar setting
• Understands the challenges faced by students with additional learning needs
• Is patient, encouraging and able to remain calm under pressure
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Enjoys working as part of a collaborative team
• Is passionate about improving outcomes for young people
Desirable Skills
• Previous experience supporting students with SEN or SEND
• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or a related subject
• Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, SEMH or behaviour support strategies
