Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Full-Time Teaching Assistant – Year 4 (SEMH Support) – Brent A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Brent is seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time Teaching Assistant to provide consistent 1:1 support for a student in Year 4 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour. Start Date: After May half-term Location: Brent Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (term time only) Please note: Part-time applicants will not be considered for this role. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and confident managing behaviour in a calm and constructive way. You’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver a tailored support plan that encourages emotional regulation, sustained engagement in learning, and academic progress. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve supporting the student within lessons, helping them manage their emotions, stay on task, and build confidence. Developing a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil will be key, as will promoting independence and resilience. You’ll also be expected to contribute to ongoing progress monitoring and work collaboratively with colleagues, therapists, and families to ensure a joined-up approach to support. We’re looking for someone with experience supporting children with SEMH needs, ideally in a school or youth work setting. You should be confident using behaviour management strategies, patient and empathetic, and able to remain calm and consistent under pressure. Experience supporting children with ADHD, autism, or attachment difficulties would be a bonus, though not essential.
