Job Title: SEN Tutor
Are you a passionate and experienced SEN Tutor ready to make a real impact in the lives of students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and autism spectrum conditions (ASC)? Axcis Education is partnering with a well-established specialist school to find a dedicated SEN Tutor to join their team and provide personalised interventions for students. If you're looking to work in a supportive and rewarding environment, read on!
This school is a vibrant, inclusive environment where students with complex needs receive a highly tailored education that focuses on both academic and personal development. They prioritise a holistic, child-centred approach, ensuring every student is supported in their journey to independence and success.
What You'll Be Doing:
Delivering Interventions: As an SEN Tutor, you’ll be responsible for providing targeted interventions in a school setting. You’ll work closely with students to help them build essential skills and reach their full potential in their academic, social, and life skills development.
Personalised Learning Plans: You’ll create and implement individual learning plans, ensuring that each student’s specific needs are met. Your focus will be on fostering independence and preparing students for adulthood, using a combination of tailored interventions and the curriculum.
Communication Support: As an SEN Tutor, you’ll utilise communication methods such as Makaton and other approaches to ensure students with ASC and PMLD can engage with the learning material and express themselves effectively.
Curriculum Delivery: You’ll support the delivery of the functional skills curriculum, life skills, and vocational training, helping students develop skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.
Tracking and Assessing Progress: You’ll assess the progress of the students you work with, adapting your teaching methods as necessary to meet their evolving needs. You’ll play a key role in monitoring each student's journey and ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience: We are looking for an SEN Tutor with experience working with students with PMLD and ASC in a school setting. If you have a background in delivering personalised interventions and working with students with complex needs, we would love to hear from you.
Qualifications: While Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable, we are happy to consider candidates with substantial relevant experience in place of QTS. If you have strong experience working as an SEN Tutor, your expertise will be highly valued.
Communication Skills: Experience in using Makaton or other communication systems is essential to ensure you can support students effectively. You’ll need to be adaptable and open to using a variety of communication techniques to meet the needs of your students.
Skills and Qualities: As an SEN Tutor, you will need to be patient, empathetic, and dedicated to providing the best possible learning experience for students with complex needs. Strong organisational skills and a commitment to ongoing professional development are also key.
Commitment to Student Success: You’ll be passionate about working with students to help them achieve their personal best. You’ll take pride in supporting their progress and ensuring they have all the tools they need to succeed.
Why Axcis Education?
Impactful Work: As an SEN Tutor, your work will directly shape the future of students with PMLD and ASC, helping them to gain life skills and reach milestones that will set them up for success.
Supportive School Environment: You’ll be joining a school that prides itself on being inclusive, with a child-centred approach that puts the needs of every student at the forefront. The school is committed to working collaboratively with families, support staff, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students.
Professional Development: At Axcis Education, we are committed to helping our educators grow. You’ll have access to a variety of training and development opportunities to enhance your teaching skills and career.
