Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Tilehurst, Reading
Hours: Monday to Friday
Start Date: Immediate
Pay: £89 per day (PAYE)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a secondary SEND class within a specialist setting.
The role involves working with young people with profound autism and sensory impairments. Pupils are pre-verbal and require consistent support using PECS and alternative communication strategies. The position also includes personal care responsibilities, so a calm, respectful, and patient approach is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support within the classroom
Support pupils with communication using PECS and visual systems
Assist with sensory regulation and personalised learning activities
Support with personal care needs in a dignified and professional manner
Work closely with the class teacher and wider SEND team
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have experience supporting children or young people with autism and complex needs
Be confident supporting pre-verbal pupils and using PECS
Be patient, resilient, and empathetic
Be comfortable with personal care duties
Be reliable and committed to working full-time, Monday to Friday
