Bromley, South London Start Date: Tuesday 1st September Hours: 8:30am - 4:00pm, Term Time Only Contract: Full-Time, Temp to Perm Pay: From £92.63 per day Axcis Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded specialist SEND school in Bromley. For pupils aged 7-19, this well-resourced school has an excellent reputation providing high-quality support and education for children and young people with additional needs. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside an experienced SEND Teacher within a small Key Stage 2 class, supporting pupils with communication difficulties, autism, and a range of special educational needs. The role would suit a patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about helping children achieve their full potential. Experience using Makaton and/or PECS is highly desirable, as you will be supporting pupils with limited verbal communication. Key Responsibilities • Support pupils with SEND on a 1:1 and small-group basis within the classroom. • Assist pupils with communication, learning, and social development. • Use Makaton and/or PECS to support communication and engagement. • Support pupils with accessing lessons and participating in classroom activities. • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation. • Manage challenging situations calmly and effectively. The Ideal Candidate • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND, Autism (ASD), speech and language needs, or complex learning needs. • Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or alternative communication methods. • Experience supporting pupils in a school, special school, care, or support setting. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude. • Ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff. • Relevant Teaching Assistant, SEND, Childcare, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or Education qualifications are desirable.
